Easter in North Wales
Easter in North Wales
Now that spring is in full swing and the weather is gradually getting warmer, you’ll find plenty of outdoor activities to keep you entertained during the Easter holidays. From attractions to events – there will be plenty to do for the entire family.
Things to do this spring
North Wales is a holiday region that’s passionate about language, culture and history, with magnificent castles, railways and museums. The scenery’s superb too – fantastic beaches, tumbling rivers and not forgetting the magnificent mountains, lakes and waterfalls of Snowdonia.
Snowdonia is a popular retreat for walkers, but the Vale of Clwyd, the Clwydian Range, Llyn Peninsula, and the coastal paths of Anglesey are also very popular. While you are in the area why not try some of the award winning golf courses – such as Northop Country Park, the work of former Ryder cup player John Jacobs.
Places to see
There are plenty of places to see in North Wales and this month there are even more! Cadw, the Welsh Governments historic environments service has invested time, effort and money into a 30th celebration event that will take place all this month (September 2014). The event is called Open Doors and it is a chance for visitors and locals to learn a lot more about the history and culture of the area. During September many heritage sites will be either opening their doors for free admission or hosting special events in the name of historic education and interest. Cadw is also offering free admission to the paid events and places first 10,000 people who choose to register through their website.
From acclaimed National Museums to thrilling caves and mines, Wales has museums to suit everybody. Most people automatically associate the landscape and people of Wales with a wealth of historical sites just waiting to be explored. But the museums of Wales are finely poised to tell all those stories, whether you’re enticed by the towering national ones or the singular, smaller heritage venues.
